Required WikiMedia Configuration

Settings for External Images

In LocalSettings.php:

  • $wgAllowExternalImages = true;

Settings to allow the tag to be used

  • $wgAllowImageTag = 'true';

NOTES:
  1. $wgAllowImageTag - Allow tag to be used in wikitext. This allows you to specify alt text and
  2. other attributes, copy-paste HTML to your wiki more easily, etc. However, allowing external image
  3. in any manner will allow anyone with editing rights to snoop on your visitors' IP addresses and so
  4. forth, if they wanted to, by inserting links to images on sites they control. Hence enabling this
  5. setting can represent a privacy risk to your visitors.

Also could have used:

  1. If $wgAllowExternalImages is false, you can specify an exception here. Image URLs that start with
  2. this string are then rendered, while all others are not. You can use this to set up a trusted,
  3. simple repository of images.
  4. $wgAllowExternalImagesFrom = 'http://127.0.0.1/';
  5. $wgAllowExternalImagesFrom = array( 'http://127.0.0.1/', 'http://www.example.com/' );
