As of 2018 we have run into problems with running the COM service 'excel.application' from a scheduler.

Warning: Excel may not work correctly in a scheduled job unless these configuration changes are applied.

Folders Required By Excel for Non-Interactive Sessions/Jobs

  • C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Desktop
  • C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\Desktop


Add the user running the scheduler to the folder security with full access


Changing Security on Files

Determine the username that runs the jobs in the scheduler.

  1. In file explorer, locate the file and right click it's listing.
  2. Click Security Tab
  1. Add the username to the Group or user names box.
  2. Allow Full control in the Permissions ... box.
