DSA User Interface Types

DSA Web/Mobile Power-User:

This is the most powerful web/mobile option designed for people who want to take control of their data analysis needs. Individual users' features and rights are configurable by power-users with full admin rights.

- Extensive ad hoc capabilities.

- Downloading of underlying data.

- Printing and exporting to PDF and PNG.

- Creation of new reports and views.

- Dashboard, reports and data rendering can be controlled by user credentials.

- Power Users with Admin credentials also have:

-- Administration of DSA Server configuration.

-- Security settings can control what each user or group of users can do on the UI.


DSA Web/Mobile Viewer-User:

This is a popular web/mobile option designed for the consumption of reports and dashboards.

- Consumes preconfigured web/mobile reports and dashboards.

- Ad hoc features that can be made available: filters, sorting, selection of data sets, tooltips, keep/exclude only, drill down to lower levels of dimensions.

- Printing and exporting to PDF and PNG.

- Dashboard, reports and data rendering can be controlled by user credentials.


DSA Desktop:

This is the most powerful desktop option designed for people who want to take control of their data analysis needs, as well as for the authoring of DataSelf Analytics data connections and publishing for web/mobile and reader users.

- Extensive ad hoc capabilities.

- Downloading of underlying data.

- Printing and exporting to PDF and PNG.

- Creation of new reports and views.

- Dashboard, reports and data rendering can be controlled by user credentials.

- Creation and change layout of dashboards.

- Data connections: Create and edit data connections, edit relationships in blends, or create primary groups in blends.

- New objects: Create and edit new calculated fields, sets, groups, parameters, actions, bins.

- Meta data management: Edit and change field names and values (such as hierarchies, renaming, change data types); edit titles/captions/annotations.

- Charts: Add reference lines or edit axis on charts; add trendlines/forecasting to charts; tweaking of mapping such as changing locations, background images, or map options; dual axis charts.

- Filters: Make global filters or apply them to the non-active worksheet; use of filtering options (such as wildcard, condition and top).

- Show history options for pages shelf (trails, length, fade).

- Sorting by field/manual sorting.

- Publishing tool for Desktop Reader and Web/Mobile users.


Tableau Desktop Reader:

This is a limited desktop option designed for the consumption of reports and dashboards.

- Reads packaged workbooks (.twbx) manually created and refreshed by DSA Desktop users. These .twbx files are regular regular Windows and Mac files.

- Ad hoc features that can be made available via .twbx files: filters, sorting, selection of data sets, tooltips, keep/exclude only, drill down to lower levels of dimensions.

- Printing and exporting to PDF.


DSA Distribution Module Users:

The DSA Distribution Module allows the automatic refresh and sharing of reports and dashboards with an unlimited number of users via shared folders and/or emails. It requires at least one Web/Mobile power-user. In other words, these users receive their own specific refreshed reports and dashboards via email and/or shared folder on an schedule basis. These reports and dashboards are available in PDF and/or PNG format.
