  1. Prepare a view in a Tableau worksheet using DataSelf Analytics Desktop or Tableau Desktop.
  2. Copy the worksheet into a separate workbook dedicated solely for use by DSA AD. [You want to be sure that no one changes the workbook after it has been configured for use by DSA AD.)
  3. Give the worksheet a unique name - one that will not be confused with any other worksheet or report.
  4. Add a title that shows the value of the filter or filters set by DSA AD. (Recommended)
  5. Add the refresh date ("Data current as of:") and the current date ("Run on: "). (Recommended)
  6. Save the workbook.
  7. Publish the workbook to DataSelf Analytics Web Server or Tableau Server.

Titles Showing Filter Values

Example Edit Title window
<Sheet name> for Order Territory = <Order Territory>
  1. On Desktop menu: Worksheet > Show Title
  1. Right click on sheet title > Edit Title.
  1. Click Insert drop down and choose the dimension being used for filtering.
  1. Choose “Normal” from the toolbar menu.
  1. Adjust the width of the title so that all the title text is shown.

Dashboards vs. Normal Views

When working with Dashboards, we have more control of how to layout information on the screen. So, if we can fit all information in a given dashboard and size of window (such as with charts), then Dashboards offer more ways to format the output. However dashboards don't dynamically resize themselves to include more information such as when a report contains many detail lines.
When the size of the query is dynamic not all information will fit in the PDF or PNG export.
